Alejandro Sanz

I've never been in South Florida during a hurricane. I was filming all the mess. And I did some reading.

Spanish Born

The musician and composer of the popular Spanish flamenco style, was born in Madrid in 1968 under the name of Alejandro Sanz. Flamenco was the roots of the artist and he would bring his style to fans across the entire world at the high point of his career. Many have said that his style is that of a party and will continue that emotion even when singing songs or sorrow.

He would begin playing music as a young child where he was influenced with Spanish genres such as farrucas and martinets, but it was the style of flamenco that would send him flying through the stars of the music community and make him a house hold name throughout the world.

Dancing to his Start

Going on to become one of the most internationally acclaimed artists in the popular culture format, Alejandro Sanz would become an ever living romantic in the world of pop music, while still identifying with male audiences as well. When he was thirteen years old, he and his family would move to Madrid where he would describe himself as the average boy with average male friends.

In an interview he would talk about one of his first girlfriends and the fact that she was always wanting to go to high end dance clubs and he was simply wanting to play his guitar. The artist would begin recording songs and go on to release his first album called Los Chulos Son Pa' Cuidarlos, which would gain acclaim in his home country of Spain but would not gain much attention outside of Spanish speaking countries.

He would tour the country and gain a more solid fan base then immediately go back into the studio to release Viviendo Deprisa. The song that in English means I Will Tell You Tomorrow was his first breakthrough hit and would gain some international acclaim for this song. The album would be eventually certified as platinum when it would sell over one million copies.

Dancing to the Stars

Alejandro Sanz had established himself as a staple in Latin American music and had solidified his popularity with many in the Spanish speaking community across the globe. However, he was not done and would go back to the studio to release his next album in 1993 called Si Tu Me Miras. In this album, it was said by some that the guitar of Paco de Lucia would bring his voice to life as he sang about the trials and tribulations of two star crossed lovers.

With his next release, he would surprise his audience with a new and more organic sound with songs about the old country and the grit of man. The album was released in 1993 as well called Basico and would further solidify his male audience with these salt of the earth tunes. In 1995, his fans would see the release of the album 3, which is the album that propelled him into the international spotlight on a level of stardom.

He would begin to fill the venues that were the size of stadiums and fans would travel from all over the world to hear his cross categorical style. 1997 would see the release of Mas, which was mostly a piano album and would illustrate his talents over another instrument that he had mastered.
