Alan Jackson

Ten years ago I was driving a forklift at the Kmart and nobody was screaming at me then. I guess it's the magic of show business.

The Early Years

Alan Eugene Jackson was born in Georgia in 1958. He moved to Nashville, Tennessee, after his marriage. Alan got a mailroom job, but his wife helped him become acquainted with Glen Campbell, who helped him get a start in the music industry. He eventually signed a contract with Arista Records.

Initial projects included a jingle for a Kraft Foods commercial and singing on demo tapes for other bands to review their songs.

After an obscure independently released album that went nowhere, Alan Jackson recorded and released Here in the Real World in 1989 through Arista. Of the four released singles, I'd Love You All Over Again went to #1, and the album certified double platinum.

A Huge Success

He followed this with four multi-platinum albums. 1992's A Lot About Livin' (And A Little 'Bout Love), 1994's Who I Am, 1996's Everything I Love, and 1998's High Mileage and peaked at #1 on the US Country Charts. These four albums spawned ten #1 singles on the US Country charts and eleven Top ten hits. At the beginning of 2005, Jackson launched the Fruit of the Loom Tour, including over 100 performances and netting over $40 million.

From 2000 through 2008, Alan Jackson released six additional albums. While they have not enjoyed the wild success his 1990s collection did, they each certified platinum. Nine more #1 US Country hits and numerous Top 10 singles prove that he continued to remain popular among his enormous fan base. At the 2002 Country Music Awards, Jackson set a record for having the most nominates (ten) in a single year.

Still On Top

In the course of Jackson's career so far, he has won fourteen Academy of Country Music Awards, twelve Country Music Association Awards, and a Grammy Award. He was inducted to the Georgia Music Hall of Fame in 2001, and is to be honored with a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame in 2010. Fifteen studio albums, one live album, and seven compilation albums have spawned twenty-six #1 singles.

Jackson's next album Freight Train, is due out in March, 2010. According to Nielsen Soundscan, Alan Jackson is the #4 most played artist on line for 2009. The demand for mp3 downloads of Jackson's music remains consistent, and it is predicted that his new album, being much anticipated, will be very well received.
