A Day To Remember
“Hey mom, I wrote you some soft songs, And tell dad I'm just fine/We had to choose/We made our moves/And now we got to go, go.” Known for their punk rock sounds that stems from a metalcore style and incorporating lyrics that all the everyone loves to sing. A Day to Remember is a pop rock band from Ocala, Florida, that mixed two genres of music to make their own unique sound.
Road Warriors
The band was formed in 2003, when five young musicians from central Florida, decided to stop playing the local clubs and go on tour. With the lead singer Jeremy McKinnon, bassist Joshua Woodard, drummer Booby Scruggs and guitarists Neil Westfall and Tom Denny, A Day to Remember, also known as A.D.T.R., played in over 200 show across the south. In 2005, the band was signed to Indianola Records and released their debut LP, entitled, And Their Name Was Treason. Sad to say, the album didn't sell 10,000 units and was a huge disappointment for the group. Since their debut album was a flop, A Day to Remember went back out on tour to promote the album and to seek bigger and better opportunities.
A Band to Remember
In 2006, they were playing with the band, On the Last Day and was seen by a representative from Victory Records. The band signed with Victory Records and replacing Bobby Scruggs with Alex Shellnut on drums, A Day to Remember released their album on the Victory Records label, titled, For Those Who Have Heart, released in January 2007. This album had more success than the first peaking at # 17 on the Top Heatseekers charts and reached #43 on the Top Independent Albums charts.
Riding on the success of the album, A Day to Remember began touring in the U.K with bands like The Devil Wear Prada, Silverstein, and A Static Lullaby. Later that same year, A.D.T.R., played all of their tour dates in the states as well. While on tour in Australia, the band completed and released their third album which was ironically titled, Homesick in 2009. The album was a hit in the U.S and the U.K., and reached #1 on the Top Independent Albums.
After playing two sold out U.K tours and planning to tour the United States, band member, Tom Denney decided to leave the band to pursue his career and take care of his family. He was replaced by Kevin Skaff formerly of the band, Four Letter Lie. In September of 2009, A.D.T.R. performed as an headliner on tour called The Pulling Your Pud Tour, with bands like In Fear and Faith, I See Stars, and Parkway Drive. The band is set to continue to tour the U.K for the next year, and have tentatively scheduled an U.S tour in May of 2010. The band is schedule to tour March 31st through the middle of May, with bands link Silverstein, Veara, Go Radio, and Silverstein.
Get Your Guitar Hero On
In 2009, A Day to Remember played at the Warped Tour 2009 and was given the opportunity to have their music on a popular video. Their single, “The Downfall of Us All,” was released on the Warped Tour 01 pack for Rock Band and Rock Band 2, as well as, their single “NJ Legion Iced Tea” was released for Guitar Hero: World Tour on the Victory Track Pack in 2009.
